Monnette managed to defeat Buchman despite the stiff opposition posed by the latter. Monnette defeated Buchman in seven-card stud eight-or-better, but earned most of his chips during the stud round. This was Buchman's second final table of the 2011 WSOP after finishing third in the seven-card stud Event 5, won by Eugene Katchalov. He also cashed in the $10,000 Omaha high-low event last week and the three cashes have led him into the top 15 in the 2011 WSOP Player of the Year rankings.

On top of those rankings is Juanda whose sixth-place finish was his second of the Series. Buchman knocked out Juanda during the limit hold 'em round.

The game changed at each table every eight hands and blind levels increased every hour.
